COMPOSITION COMPETITION RESULTS
Congratulations to Jay
Anthony Gach who is the winner of Saxtet Publications
Sax Quartet Composition Competition with his score
Trains, steam whistles and
radiator pipes. The judging panel thinks that it's
an exciting, excellently crafted piece of
writing, that will make an impressive performance piece in the
2005 Saxophone Congress Gala Concert at Birmingham
Conservatoire, where it will be premiered on 13th February.
Many thanks to the rest of you who
took part in the competition. We received over 35 - very
diverse! - scores, many of which were imaginative and
well-presented. A significant proportion are really very high
quality, appealing works, which we hope will be taken up and
performed by sax quartets everywhere.
Listed below are some of the scores
that were submitted and several are now available at Sibelius
Music.
Thanks again to everyone who showed
an interest in this competition.
