Mary Gilmartin
Mary won a scholarship to study piano at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, U.K. Her performing career focused on playing Chamber Music and accompanying singers and instrumentalists. She has always pursued a passionate interest in teaching the piano.
For the past 25 years Mary has been an examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, travelling extensively on the International circuit. Examining abroad created many opportunities for teaching in seminars and workshops. In Malaysia and Borneo she devised and ran on-going courses for piano teachers.
The idea of writing her comprehensive tutor book Learn to Sight Sing was prompted by a need to help candidates preparing for examinations. Not only has it proved popular with aspiring musicians in every field as a sight singing aid, it has been a helpful scorce of supplementary sight reading material for saxophonists!
