Balletico

Description

This contemporary take on the waltz idiom contains its own technical demands (it is the 'set' audition piece for The National Saxophone Choir of Great Britain and appears on the Grade 8 ABRSM and Trinity/Guildhall exam syllabuses), but should always be played with the title - Balletico - in mind. It is a test of musicality rather than virtuosity, and while the performance directions need careful consideration, players should exercise their own judgement on rubato, vibrato, phrasing and breath control. A successful performance will be fluent, fluid, and demonstrate a consistent tone throughout the range.

The music is marked with a Saxtet Publications E-Edition logo and can be used in all exams and auditions. It is No.19 from the popular 'Sax Scorchers' study book, which includes four more titles that appear on exam syllabuses.
