Shetland Sequence

Description

This collection of Shetland jigs and reels was arranged by Jan Steele, a founder member of the saxophone ensemble, Saxtet. He transcribed them from a guitar performance, although traditionally they would have been played on the fiddle.

The original quartet version was regularly used by Saxtet as a rousing concert-closer and encore, requiring massive amounts of stamina and plenty of self-control to avoid getting carried away too quickly!

Edition Notes

This arrangement can be played either as a trio with a solo soprano, or as a larger ensemble with two or more sopranos.
